Achieving greater equity by improving outcomes for all students
The size and diversity of our region raise unique challenges to providing equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities that allow all students to succeed. Remote, rural locations and the unique social and cultural needs of American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN), Hispanic, and recent immigrant students can make it difficult for traditional schooling approaches to ensure equitable access and outcomes.
Our work in this priority area aims at reducing disparities in educational participation and performance among student groups based on race (particularly AI/AN), Hispanic origin, family income, and English language proficiency. Of particular interest is eliminating disproportionality in discipline, graduation, and dropout rates.
